Many homeowners in the District walk or bike along the trails in the District. Many of them also walk their dogs on the trails. Dog waste has been a growing problem so the District purchased and placed “doggie stations” to collect animal waste. If you use the trail with your dog, be sure to pickup and place your dog’s waste in the appropriate receptacle. Dog waste and the potential to contaminate our water sources is a serious issue. It is important that you do not bag the waste and throw it under a shrub. The bags are not biodegradable and it interferes with the maintenance of the trails and weed mowing and the waste can eventually find its way into our water supply.
